Ventura County eFiling Services
Ventura County, California allows court documents to be filed electronically through approved Electronic Filing Service Providers (EFSPs). eFiling offers a fast, secure, and efficient way for attorneys and self-represented individuals to submit legal documents online without visiting the courthouse.
Does Ventura County Superior Court Offer eFiling?
Yes. The Ventura County Superior Court began accepting eFiling on December 9, 2024 for several case types, including:
- Civil (limited and unlimited)
- Probate
- Small claims
Electronic filing is currently permissive (optional), but will become mandatory for attorneys effective May 5, 2025 in:
- Unlimited civil
- Limited civil
- Probate cases
Self-represented individuals are not required to eFile, but may choose to use electronic filing for convenience.

eFiling is
not yet available for family law cases at this time.

- Submit your documents directly to the Ventura County Superior Court
Documents submitted between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 PM are considered filed the same court day if accepted.
Important eFiling Information
- eFiling began in December 2024 and is currently optional
- eFiling becomes mandatory for attorneys on May 5, 2025
- eFiling is available for civil, probate, and small claims cases only
- Family law filings are not yet eligible for eFiling
- Documents must be submitted in text-searchable PDF format
- Filers must redact sensitive information—the court does not do this for you
- Some documents cannot be eFiled and must be submitted:
- In person
- By mail
- Via drop box
- The court is not fully paperless—paper filing is still accepted
- Filings are only considered official once accepted by the court after review
- Common rejection reasons include:
- Incorrect document type or filing code
- Incorrect case information
- Improper formatting or combining documents incorrectly
